Well, I did it again........

Once again I have waited til the last minute to do my shopping. UUGGGGHHHHH! Why do I do this every year, you think I would learn from years past. NOPE.

Here is what today is looking like so far.

Work now. Christmas Party @ Noon. Go to the mall and try not to kill anyone. Go to the grocery store and get the fixing's for baked mostaciolli and 2 pork roast. Go home and wrap presents while drinking. Make mostaciolli for Wednesday and prep pork roasts for Thursday, again, while drinking.

Wish me luck.

A Tag from Jess

Jess tagged me a few days ago with a meme called Flicker 6 of 6. Go to page six photo six of your Flicker photostream and then post it. I don't have flicker so I modified it to play along. 6th folder, 6th picture.

A trip to the zoo with the boys and school.

I am tagging anyone who wants to play. Come on, don't be a pooper head, just play.

I have been a total slacker

I cant believe I have not been on here in 2 weeks.

I have been in a rut for the last few weeks...I don't know if it is the holidays coming up or what but I am usually in a good mood this time of year. I love to buy gifts for my family, I love to see the looks on every ones face when they open the gifts. (kids mostly)

I need to get out of this funk!!!!!

we put up our tree, a 9 foot pre-lit and the flippin top was burned out, go figure, so i get a strand of 100 multi color that states if one burns out the rest stay lit. I plug it in and all 100 bulbs are lit. Yipee!! I put the lights on the tree plug it in again and guess what....half the frickin lights are out. WTF. I don't care I left em like that and after 2 weeks, we are going to put ornaments on tonight.

As soon as I find my plug for my camera, I will download pics of my sad Christmas decorated house.

Maybe after we decorate some more, I will feel better.

I have lots to post on so stay tuned.

Bludges

I can not believe it. When it rains it pours. I went to the Doctor this morning as a f/u to my MRI. I have 4 bulging discs. C4 - C7. I am now going to PT for my neck/spine and OT for my Carpel Tunnel.

We are going to try 3-4 more weeks of OT and then decide on the surgery date if not better.(I am thinking now I may schedule it around Christmas break so I don't have to worry about what to do with my kiddies.) And OT for 3-4 weeks to see if that alleviates any pain. I have to take pain meds (Yippee) called Lyrica 50 mgs 2X a day for 1 week then up it to 75 mgs for 1 week then up to 100 mgs. Also get to take a muscle relaxer before bed. If this does not work, I get steroid injections and if that does not work.....Surgery on my neck.

So I told this situation to someone and got a response I was not expecting. Should I address it or leave it alone?

Testing, Testing and More Testing

I finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday to find out why, for the last 3 years, my hands go numb. I visited with my little China-man neurologist, Dr Wang, who did some test on me and then decided that I need to have an EMG, Needle testing and an MRI.

So off to register for the EMG/Needle Testing. After 20 minutes of being poked and a zillion volt of electric passed through my arm, DIAGNOSIS: Severe Carpel Tunnel in my right hand, Immediate PT/OT was recommended as a start. May need to have surgery. Now my 78 year old father just has Carpel Tunnel surgery on both hands. He made it look easy so I am sure it cant be that bad, right? Wrong. Here is why. I have 3 kids and a hubby that count on me for everything, I mean everything. Then I'm thinking...I know hubby loves me but I am right handed and I really don't feel like having hubby wipe my ass and I'm not sure he would want to anyway.

Who's gonna do laundry, who's gonna cook, whose gonna go to work for me cause I don't get paid if I'm not there. I don't have time coming until June 2009. who's gonna do all the things I do. How am I gonna shower?

Today I had my MRI. Who the FUCK Invented this machine? Unless you are no more than 6 inches thick, you are stuffed in there like a sardine. Well, I was anyway. I'm not the slimmest chick on the block. The tech tells me to go ahead and close my eyes, take a little nap and slides me into the machine. At fist, I throw myself into a mild panic attack but calm myself down. Then all of the sudden out of nowhere, it sounds like a jack hammer is in my head. How do they expect you to relax with all that frigging banging going on. 25 minutes later, he pulls me out and says "did you get any rest?" Is he kidding????

I will have my results in 2 days they say.... Lets hope they don't find anything they weren't looking for!

TRICK R' TREAT

I have no talent.....

When it comes to carving pumpkins.... My kids want me to do some real fancy carvings, little do they know all my pumkins have triangle eyes and jagged mouths. They think I am some kind of artist, I am going to send them to Tiffany's even without her carving kit she did a great job.

This is what I am going to try to do, it looks easy enough.

Saturday Stuff

Your not so typical Saturday...

We had CCD this morning. I had to stay today, it was Parents day for the 2nd graders. We went to church and learned why and when they Priest wear different garments and the different parts of the mass. It was a good time.

We got home at 10:40 and I told the kids that it was cleaning day!!! HUH, why do we have to clean? (say it again in your best cry baby voice)I responded with "we all live here not just me and because I said so!

We cleaned 1 room today. It took 3 hours, it was the boys room. I pulled everything out and really cleaned it. (noticed how I said "I", I did most of the work)

Then 3 hours later, lots of yelling, swearing, throwing out, I was done!

Here are the 2 little angles that mess that room everyday.

I'm done, I'm sore and I am having a drink, anyone care to join me??

Lake Delton is gone

2 weeks ago I went to the Dells with my family. Jess has been asking me for these pictures since I got back. For those of you who do not know, Lake Delton got washed away when the levy broke last summer. It was devistating to see on the news. It was even on you tube, you can get it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guBo0FQhjaM

Here are some pics I took this is the Tommy Bartlett Water Show area.

That is where we were this day back in March of 2008 according to the caption on the folder. I really need to organize these clips better.

When is it Appropriate to Snap

I am sorry but I have to vent... I really need to turn this day around and I'm hoping this helps. I'll start with yesterday.

I had a pretty stressed out day at work, yesterday was payroll for the temps. I processed it on Monday because I was a bit ahead of schedule. So no problems right..wrong. Here's how it started. We put a limit on ACH transactions of $10,000.00 per day. My boss requested a dividend payout of $50,000.00, more than the limit, so last week I pushed the limit to $100,000.00 per day. The bank said no problem, they were wrong there was a problem. It takes 5 business days to get an increase approved, they did no tell me that. Anyhow, on Monday, when I was processing the payroll I decided to process the dividend as well. Guess what, I went over the limit so they froze all my ACH's but still deducted the money from the account so I had no idea, UNTIL.....

I got a call that payroll never posted to this one temps account. I called the bank, they said it was done from what they can see, so I call the girl back and tell her it's fine on my end.

Long story short (i know too late) this happened 13 times yesterday. I got the Assistant VP involved, the President and my boss who called the Chairman of the Board, who finally made the bank wire the money into all the accounts. Problem solved. Yippee.

I went home after work still kind of worked up from all the extra stuff that had to be done because of the banks error in communication. Picked up the kids, dropped the boys at gymnastics, went home, did some PartyLite stuff, picked up the boys, went to the grocery store, came home and did some laundry, cooked dinner, checked homework, sat and talked about "stuff" with my hubby. This all made my BP go up (i have high BP but on meds)a little too high for me.

Got up today, BP even higher, got ready for work. Had a heck of a time with the kids today and I know I was on edge so I should have just walked away from it all but I had to yell. Was 45 minutes late for work. Get called into one bosses(the wife) office to talk.

What did we talk about you ask? The way I dress for work. 3-1/2 months ago when I started no one told me of a dress code. I wear Capri's (dressy with open toed flats), black, tan or brown dress pants (with closed toed shoes), some days I wear Polo shirts, some days a shirt with a blouse over it, nothing sloppy, ripped or just plain old nasty. I never knew I was doing anything wrong until today.

I have been told I need to dress up my wardrobe. I should look at the way the other girls dress. There are 4 other girls here. I don't feel I dress any less than they do. I just like to wear cloths that hide the fact that I am a bit big in the mid section.

I don't know if I am more aggravated or more embarrassed right now.

Thanks for listening, it did help a bit. :)

Talking to myself......again

Sometime I think I am the only one who hears what I say. I have conversations with everyone in my house but I am the only one that listens to me.

Here is an example from tonight. Marty (hubby) went to the hospital to see his dad after this fab-u dinner I made. He called me when he got there to tell me he made it & Gus (his dad) looks better but still fells like shit. (I'll do a blog on him soon.) Anyway, everyone was off work/school today but me so the basement looks very lived in. He asked me to tell the kids to put the couch bed away, clean up all the pillows, blankets, toys and whatever else they used all day. No problem, one less thing for me to do. Mary Jo is in the shower so I tell Mike and Marty to go down and get it taken care of before dad gets home. They were both looking right at me and said okay and walked out of the kitchen and down the stairs, I know this because I watched. 10 minutes go by and they are back up stairs laughing, playing and having a pillow fight, so I think they are done. I asked Mary Jo to go down and see how it looked and report back to me. She leaves and never comes back so I think it's done. I am sitting in the office and I hear all this noise in the kitchen, stuff falling on the floor, little people trying to pick it up, it falling again, and little people laughter the whole time. I really like little people laughter so sometimes I just let it go. I got up just to see what was so funny and they are having a pillow fight in the kitchen with the pillows from the basement which means the basement is not clean. Imagine that. I call Mary Jo who is now watching T.V. and ask her if it is clean and she says no.
WTF is going on here? Now my blood is boiling and I let the scream out.

"GET YOUR ASSES IN THE BASEMENT NOW, CLEAN IT LIKE DAD WAS WATCHING YOU AND YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO DO IT!"

Guess what, I was done in less then 5 minutes.

Do I just start with the psycho screaming from now on????

A Good Morning for all!

The morning routine at my house went very well today. Everyone got up on the first call and were dressed and at the breakfast table without my veins popping out of my neck from screaming at them... Then it hits me!

The only reason everyone was so happy to get up is because we are going to the Dells tonight for a little get-a-way. We have not had a family vacation all year so this little get-a-way is needed real bad.

I'll post some pictures of all our fun when we get back.

I hope you all have a great weekend and keep it safe!

HAIR CUTS WITH A STAR

Last week Marty was so fed up with the boys hair that he took them for hair cuts on Friday night. Hair cuts are usually my thing. My neighbor Patti is a stylist & usually does me, Mary Jo, Mike and Marty for $20.00. Cant beat that deal now can you? My hubby Marty goes to Joe, he has been going to Joe since he was a teenager and now pays $25.00 with a tip.

Patti is good but she usually wants me there at 8:00 in the morning or 2:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Not really good for me anymore since the kids are into everything. Saturday mornings we do CCD at 9:00 so 8:00 is out. We are always busy doing something during the day so 2:00 usually does not work either.

Mary Jo's has THICK, WAVY/CURLY hair. Her last hair cut was done by my friend Laura, also a stylist. she did a really nice job. I went to her because her daughter has curly hair like Mary Jo and her hair always looks so cute. Needless to say, I am vey happy, she did not charge me anything so as payment I am giving her some candles. She is one of my customers so I know what she likes and who cant use candles.

My hair has alot to be disired. It is way to long right now, way too many colors and is always in a pony. I need a new style.

Back to the subject......

How cool would it be at 7 years old to tell all your friends that you and a famous guy get your hair cut by the same guy....Barber Ron.

Well, mine do now. Friday night while doing laundry, Marty calls to tell me the boys now get their hair cut with an actor named Valentino Cimo. "WHO"? you ask. Well if you ever watched the movie Next of Kin (i have a million times) you would know I am talking about Rhino, the guy who gets locked on the bus with all the snakes. If you still dont know him, here is a picture.

So Marty gets a talkin to this guy they exchange numbers and he calls Marty yesterday to let him know the kids autographs are ready and as they are chit-chatting they start talking about the Bears and how my brother has 4 seats and how Valentino would love to buy a game off my brother (the seats are really good).

Well I just e-mailed Michael to see if hhe would like to sell a game. I doubt it, he is a die-hard Bears fan.

Out of the mouth's of babes, messy house, the never ending pile of laundry

I can't tell you how long it's been since I cleaned my house, I mean really cleaned my house. To me it is disgusting. Here is what it looks like as of tonight 11:28 p.m.

Mary Jo's room. Who would have thought a little girl could be such a slob?

The Front Room (my favorite place to be).

The kids Front Room and Dining Room in the background.

Mike and Marty's room (I have given up here).

The Dining Room. As you can see my hubby likes to hang stuff on chairs and will be the first to bitch about all the shit on the chairs, HUH????

You can also see MJ's homework, the laundry I folded earlier and no one put away.

The Kitchen table with the load I just finished folding and then decided to blog about "out of the mouth's of babes and my messy house, so that is not put away either.

Laundry Area

My Kitchen

So earlier as I sat here thinking how gross my house looks. I decided that tomorrow I will go to the laundry mat and get all the laundry done in a jiffy. So I send my youngest to the basement to see if his dad has any plans for tomorrow night, he can watch the kids while I laundry.

Marty comes back up and say to me, "Dad said he has no plans but you need to call him, he wants to talk". The one thing I regret not doing when we built this house was intercoms. So next thing you know my cell is ringing, guess who? My hubby. He asks what Marty said to me, told him we are not done talking yet, says ask him what he said, I'll wait on the line....okay, here goes:

Me: Marty what happened down stairs?

Marty: (very quietly) I said s u c k (he spelled it to me) to dad.

Me: What?

Marty: I told dad it must suck to be sick. (Hubby has a cold, the worst cold in the history of colds, I just had one for 2-1/2 weeks but my was nothing. get what I'm saying')

Me to hubby, who is still on the phone: I'll handle it.

Me: Marty what were you thinking?

Marty: sob, sob, sob, I don't know?

Me: Where did you learn that word? (with every breath I was hoping he did not say you mommy).

So after several questions, it turns out some kid from camp said it and that where he heard it from, blah, blah, blah.

He is punished for 1 day, no TV, no video games, no outside after school and my favorite part of this punishment, HE HAS TO CLEAN HIS WHOLE ROOM!

I know "suck" is not all that bad but I really don't want the school calling me to tell me that he is walking around telling everybody that someone or something sucks.

4th Grade breakdowns

I pull up to school today at 2:55 like I do everyday, only today was like no other day.....

I pull up and see all these kids crying like someone had just stole the most prized possession that ever had owned. I see one of the dads i know and say "Frankie, what the hell is going on?" He said he did not know. Little Frankie (his son, Mary Jo's friend) says to me, hey, look at Mary Jo. I turn to see my daughter bawling her eyes out. I ask her what's wrong and she says that her teacher is leaving. I can not understand a word she is trying to say in between sobs.

I managed to get to Marty's teacher and get the scoop from her. MS TIERNAN (Mary Jo's teacher)GOT LAID OFF!!! It turns out that teaching positions are allocated using a formula that looks at student enrollment. It is separated as follows: Kindergarten, 1st-3rd & 4th-8th.

4th grade has 95 kids - 3 teachers
5th grade has 78 kids - 3 teachers
6th grade has 102 kids - 3 teachers
7th grade has 69 kids - 3 teachers
8th grade has 73 kids - 3 teachers

The budget dept. works with Human resources to select the position number that closes, after that is decided then they identify the quota teacher with the least seniority and that is the teacher that gets laid off. So this is how it worked in laymans terms.

Mrs Cutro's 7th grade position got axed due to lack of students and Ms. Tiernan who is only in her 2nd year here is low man on the totem pole so she gets laid off.

They just told her on Friday the 26th and today Tuesday the 30th is her last day.

Whatever happened to a 2 week notice. They told the kids today at 2:30. How can they be so insensitive to these kids and this teacher.

Can you imagine getting told you are getting laid off effective immediately but have to come back for 2 more days. And remember don't tell the kids in your class until 15minutes before you dismiss them?

Maybe a better way to do this would have been a note home to the parents to let them explain to the kids what was going on. You just don't spring this on a bunch of 9/10 year olds.

The school grounds are usually empty by 3:30, not today, no one really wanted it to end.

You will be missed dearly Ms. Tiernan.

IF TONI HAD A BLOG

I got this from my dear friend Toni today.

If I had a blog, today I would write: Today for about the 35th time in my life, I was able to wish my friend Dee "Happy Birthday". Being the kinda friend I am I wanted to be the first. At 7:20 am I called her and said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY" . And instead of a laugh or a thanks, I get "Your waking up my kids!". Now prior to calling I did put some thought into it and I think, Marty gets up early for work and the kids probably have to be in school by 8:00am or around then, Dee works at 7:30 so they should all be up now, it's Dee's Birthday and they are all probably up giving her a Birthday cup of O.J.to get her off to work. Right?... Wrong! I ask "what time do they get up?" Dee replies "7:30". Now I'm thinking if I had just waited a mere 10 more minutes, my nearest/dearest/oldest friend would have been happy to hear from me instead of being perturbed of my waking her kids up a measly 10 minutes early. The good news is, I have learned from my mistake and will not do it again next year. I will try instead next year to wish her the last "Happy Birthday" she hears for another year. Problem is I'm kinda stressin about what time the kids go to bed! My luck 9pm and I will be calling at 9:10.

For those of you who do not or have never lived in the great city of Chicago, we have a local paper called he pioneer press. Each area has there own, for example, mine is called the Harlem/Irving Times.

Long story short... Yesterday, I am sitting at footbal and this one mom hands me the paper and says, "check it out" it was from the Parade on Sunday. Right there on the cover was the Vikings boat and they actually got close enought so you can see the kids. Guess whose mug is right there in the middle?

Storms

Jessica's daughter Sam is so afraid of storms. I always thought that was strange because Sharon(Jess' mom), Toni & Jess were always doing scary things. Living with ghosts, hanging at the graveyards and what not. So for Sam to scared was weird to me.

Now I know what Jess goes through with Sam. Mary Jo has officially become afraid of storms. We have a doozie of a couple of 3 days ahead of us due to IKE.

I was going through some pictures and found 2 pictures I took one morning.

I am sure this weekend will bring more cool shots.

New Toy

We just could not resist. The best toy we bought in a long time.

Holds 100 cd's and you can change them out if you get bored. How cool is that.

ARE YOUR READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!

Well it has arrived, opening day for the NYA Football league. They really go all out for this day. It was pretty cool. The boys had a blast. First we started the day off at 8:30 a.m. to the head of the parade route where we decorated the floats/boats and cars.

Then at 9:30 the Parade left the bank lot and off to Norridge Park we went.

Had a little Pep Rally.

The "A" team played at 12:00 so we sat around and watched that game then....it was GAME TIME!

We lost 12 - 0. They played a good game and we will get them next time.
